Frequently asked questions

How do I pair a Polar H10 or Verity Sense?

During setup, the Connect Your Sensor page lets you pair a Polar H10 or Verity Sense, or skip it and pair later from the Record tab.

To pair later: put on your sensor so it has good skin contact, open the Record tab, tap Scan for Devices, then tap your device in the list. Devices you have connected before are listed there too; tap one to reconnect.

If Emuqu says Bluetooth access is off, turn Bluetooth on for Emuqu in the iOS Settings app, then come back.

What if the strap disconnects overnight?

For an overnight (Extended) recording, the Record tab has a Capture Mode choice:

  • Both (H10, the default): streams live and also records to the strap’s memory, which is fetched in the morning.
  • Internal: records to the sensor’s memory only; fetch and analyse when you wake up.
  • Streaming: live Bluetooth only, with nothing kept on the sensor.

The Verity Sense cannot stream and record to its memory at the same time, so it offers Streaming or Internal.

With the H10 in Both or Internal, or the Verity Sense in Internal, a Bluetooth dropout does not lose the night. When you connect a sensor that still holds an earlier recording, the Record tab shows Data Found on [device name]; tap Recover Data. You can also connect the strap and go to More → Settings → iCloud & Data → Recover RR from Strap. A streaming-only recording leaves nothing on the strap to recover.

Bluetooth keeps the recording running while your phone is locked. Don’t force-quit the app. If you paused a split night, a disconnect while paused doesn’t end it: reconnect the strap to resume.

How do the free trial and the one-time purchase work?

Every new user can try everything free for 30 days. After onboarding, the purchase screen offers Start 30-Day Free Trial; the trial never charges you. After that, Emuqu is a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.

Until you buy, the purchase screen is also at More → Purchase. Deleting and reinstalling the app continues the same trial rather than starting a new one. If the trial ends, everything you recorded is kept.

Restore Purchases is on the purchase screen and in More → Settings, below the Appearance section. It restores your purchase from your Apple ID, for example after reinstalling.

How do I delete my data?

One recording: open History (View all on the Dashboard’s recent strip) and swipe left on the recording to delete it. Deleted sessions are kept in More → Settings → iCloud & Data → Trash for 90 days unless you remove them sooner, and can be restored from there.

Everything: go to More → Settings → Advanced Data Controls → Delete All My Data. Type DELETE MY DATA, then confirm once more. This erases your data on this iPhone and in iCloud and removes your API keys. It cannot be undone.

A record of your free trial and the encryption keys stay in the iOS keychain; they hold none of your health data. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I turn iCloud sync on or off?

iCloud sync is optional and off until you turn it on, either with the iCloud Sync switch during setup or with the iCloud Sync switch in More → Settings → iCloud & Data. Use the same switch to turn it off at any time.

Your recordings, their analysis and your settings are encrypted on your iPhone before they are copied to your own private iCloud database. Readings from Apple Health are never uploaded; each device reads them from Apple Health itself.

How do I add an API key for Flo, and how do I withdraw consent?

On iOS 26 devices with Apple Intelligence, Flo runs on your iPhone with no key. To use a cloud model, go to More → Settings → Flo, tap a provider (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok or DeepSeek), paste your own API key and tap Save key. If no model is available, the Flo tab shows Set up Flo with an Add an API key button that opens the same page.

Keys are stored in the iOS Keychain on this device only, are not synced to iCloud, and are sent only to that provider. Before the first message to each provider, Emuqu shows exactly what it will receive and asks for your permission; Don’t send sends nothing.

To withdraw consent, go to More → Settings → Flo → the provider → Withdraw consent. Removing the provider’s key with Remove key withdraws it too. Data already sent is kept under that provider’s own retention policy.

Can I try Emuqu without a strap?

Yes. On the Dashboard, under Building your baseline, tap No strap yet? Explore with sample data. It adds three weeks of synthetic nights, scored by the same analysis as a real recording, so the recovery score, sleep, trends and history fill in.

The same control is at More → Settings → Troubleshooting → Sample data → Load sample data. Sample nights are tagged Demo; Remove sample data deletes only them, including any iCloud copies, and does not touch your own recordings.
